Lines of thought

I picked this up at the Bridget Riley show in Edinburgh.

The book is the catalogue from a show at the British museum. It’s about a project they did, funded by Riley I think, where they got school kids and students to draw from drawings in the museum’s collection.

I met the project officer from this initiative, Sarah Jaffay at one of the DRN conferences and did her workshop, where we drew from (projected) drawings from the collection.

The book is full of ‘working drawings’ and is an interesting read about the idea of the sketch in the definition of drawing. I gave a lecture to our students about how the sketch may be the reason why Drawing has become increasingly important and autonomous since about the 1950/60s.
